BOOK CLUB!
The 4th grade is reading 5 different novels! Your child is reading one of the following:
Al Capone Does my Shirts with Ms. Germanier
Lincoln's Grave Robbers with Ms. Mariani's
The Mostly True Adventures of Homer P Figg with Mrs. Chrystall
Esperanza Rising with Ms. Datz
"I Survived the Great Chicago Fire" with Mrs. Diviacchi
GRAMMAR:
Most weeks your child will be assigned a rule to complete. The rule is usually assigned on a Tuesday and is due and corrected on Thursday. (If your child sees Mrs. Mariani for language arts he/she is not required to complete this assignment). Their grammar book is green.
VOCABULARY:
Most weeks your child will be given 3 prefix, root or suffix word parts to study and practice. The majority of these will be coming from the Latin or Greek languages. They will be given a quiz at the end of each week to see if they have learned the word's mean and can apply it to a complete sentence that makes sense. They also have a blue booklet that they will be working in during the week, as practice.
